Are you ready to Green Commute?

The Green Commute Challenge is back! This year, RideshareKC’s award-winning Green Commute Challenge runs from Sept. 20 through Oct. 31, 2021. During the challenge, our colleagues become teammates as we compete against other companies and organizations to see who can log the most Green Commute trips. Logging trips earns points which could win commuters prizes and glory!

This year, we’re rebooting the annual Green Commute Challenge with a renewed sense of purpose. We want to reward the remote work revolution while encouraging new green commute habits as folks get back to the office. And with the recent roll-out of the Kansas City Regional Climate Action Plan, we hope to elevate transportation demand management as a key climate action strategy.

Track your telework, biking, walking, scooter, carpool/vanpool or transit trips on the RideshareKC app or website throughout the course of the challenge to be entered to win prizes from local partners like:

  • Soap Refill Station
  • Museum at Prairiefire
  • Midwest Cyclery
  • Charlie Hustle
  • Sequence
  • ROKC
  • Messenger Coffee Co.
  • Zarda Hickory Pit Bar-B-Q
  • Waldo Pizza
  • Carolyn’s Pumpkin Patch
  • The National WWI Museum and Memorial

Every trip counts.

Join us in contributing to better air quality and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Commuters who use alternative transportation can save money and gain health benefits from reduced stress and increased physical activity.

In 2019’s challenge, 39 organizations and 470 participants logged 29,036 trips, saving a total of:

  • 256,858 pounds of CO2 emissions
  • 13,069 gallons of fuel
  • $49,472 of gas money

And that’s not counting boosts in productivity, well-being, and camaraderie.
