The city is integrating the framework provided by our Climate Action KC Regional Plan into the municipal plan update. Help them develop these ideas by participating in an online survey.

KC region selected to convene international cooperative on climate change
Paired with Górnośląsko-Zagłębiowska Metropolia (commonly referred to as GZM) in Poland, delegates from the Kansas City region will participate in an exchange program, visiting their paired city to discuss themes around climate change and the impending building renovation wave, education, job creation and economic innovation. Kansas City will welcome 18 international cities participating in the program to Climate Action KC’s Annual Summit in April 2022, with the culmination event taking place at Johnson County Community College on April 9. This will be an opportunity to convene an international community around the topics of climate mitigation and how to best move our region toward a net-zero economy.

Kansas City joins group of eight global cities innovating energy efficiency in buildings to combat climate change
The Kansas City Building Energy Exchange is pleased to announce that the Kansas City metropolitan area was announced as one of seven global cities selected by the Urban Land Institute (ULI) to take part in a multi-year cohort that will put climate action at the center of energy efficiency advances in the built environment. Other cities include Austin, TX, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, MN, San Jose, CA, Shenzen, China, and Toronto.

Building Energy Exchange KC announces the appointment of its founding board members
Climate Action KC recently established the Building Energy Exchange KC (BE-Ex KC) in spring 2021 as a regional resource to help building owners, operators, and community members drive greater energy efficiency in the built environment. BE-Ex KC has announced the establishment of its board of directors which will shape its strategic direction for the next decade.
