The KC Regional Climate Action Plan receives sustainability award from the American Planning Association

Last week, the Kansas City Regional Climate Action Plan received an Award for Excellence in Sustainability from the American Planning Association. The annual awards honor projects, plans, policies, individuals, and organizations whose work is dedicated to supporting sustainable communities. The plan was recognized for extraordinary achievement in the state or regional category. Pictured is Tom Jacobs, MARC Director of Environmental Programs, and Karen Clawson, MARC Principal Planner, receiving the award at the 2022 National Planning Conference in San Diego, CA. Also pictured are Global Covenant of Mayors peers from the Chicago metro, Edith Makra from Metropolitan Mayors Caucus and Sharma Ashish, Illinois State Research Climatologist, who received a merit award in the same category. The Kansas City Regional Climate Action Plan was also awarded the 2021 Outstanding Plan from the Missouri Chapter of the American Planning Association last year.
