The Climate & Environment Council welcomes new members

The Climate and Environment Council (CEC) was created to move the implementation of the Kansas City Regional Climate Action Plan forward. The CEC sets a broad agenda on climate resilience and sustainability and focuses on the following core functions to carry out this purpose:

• Strategy: Develop near-term regional climate action work plans.
• Coordination: Prioritize, support and coordinate specific policy, technical and action plans among various organizations and committees.
• Alignment: Align planning and existing initiatives with funding opportunities.
• Tracking: Develop and track metrics that measure progress toward climate resilience and sustainability goals.
• Action: Conceptualize and bring energy to new initiatives and capacities.

The CEC is structured to have two cohorts with two-year staggered terms, with MARC holding a call for new member applications every year. This year, the CEC will welcome 19 new members to join 16 members from the inaugural cohort of the CEC. These new additions will bring new energy, insight and experience to the CEC and the work of implementing the Kansas City Regional Climate Action Plan.  Congratulations to these new members!
