Tour of energy-efficient Second + Delaware development on Energy Efficiency Day in KCMO

Did you know that October 6 is  Energy Efficiency Day? To celebrate, ULI Kansas City and the KC Building Energy Exchange (a program of the Regional Climate Action Plan) toured the beautiful, sustainable apartment community Second + Delaware in the River Market. The development is the world’s largest certified Passive House building. Mayor Quinton Lucas attended the tour to speak about how Kansas City can drive greater energy efficiency in the built environment. Our own KC BE-Ex Executive Director Ashley Sadowski, and Jonathan Arnold of Arnold Development Group were also there to greet members of the media.  “As you know, we here in Kansas City have hot summers and cold winters – and those extreme days are only getting more frequent,” Mayor Lucas said in a prepared statement. “By investing in energy efficiency, we lower peak demands for energy in both summer and winter, making our city more resilient”
